Before and After: A Dining Room Table Makeover
Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member h2urHome from the Su Casa group:
We decided to host Thanksgiving this year, which is great, but also not so great because we just moved into our new home and did not have a dining room table. I needed a new table and, of course, spending thousands of dollars was not in the budget, especially since Christmas is right around the corner. After a lot of searching, I found the perfect table, four chairs, and sideboard for less then $250. It had pretty lines, and it is well-built but was ugly. The before photo doesn't really show how ugly it truly was. Part of it was painted white with gold flecks all over. The rest was stained, but I couldn't even tell you what color it was.
OnSugar Blog: the Chair from Ipanema
Here's a post from OnSugar blog Think Magazine:
Tall and tan and long and lovely the Ipanema chair takes its name from Brazil's most famous beach known for social frolicking, relaxing, and lounging. Sitting in this chair is meant to give you the same feeling of comfort and relaxation. The sloped back is angled to promote relaxing while the reclaimed Brazilian Peroba planks fit beautifully in a mahogany frame for sturdy support.
The seat can be taken out easily if you wish to reupholster to suit your décor so the sky's the limit. My family likes to eat then stay at the table talking and laughing for hours so these chairs will fit in beautifully with our lifestyle. These chairs can be found at Environment Furniture.

Su Casa: A Dining Set Dilemma
CasaSugar Community member MRhodes needs a little help rethinking her dining set:

Help! I can't convince my husband to get rid of this dining set, so thought that I might be able to come up with a funky, hip way to refinish it so that it's not so traditional. There's a matching Queen Anne cherry hutch as well. My ideal dining room would be one with a big long farm table and Phillipe Stark Ghost chairs, to give you an idea of my style. Any thoughts? By the way, the room is painted a charcoal gray. Thanks!
Assisted Living: Help Me Find Fabric For Dining Chairs
CasaSugar Community member Lauren posted in the Assisted Living group looking for help finding fabric for her dining chairs:

My husband and I have started on a pretty large refinishing project! It is an old dining room table with six chairs that belonged to a friend of the family's grandmother! It is a beautiful set but it definitely needs a lot of work! So we are in the process of removing both the stain and varnish on all of the chairs and the table. I want to stain the table with a really dark almost black stain to update the old style. Along with staining, I need to recover the seats. I wanted something bright and most likely green but I am open to other colors. Does anyone know of a good place to look online for fabrics? Here are a couple of the fabrics I was thinking about!

Roundup: White Dining Room Chairs
The Blind Side, which opens today, promises to be a tearjerker. The movie, which is based on the true story captured in Michael Lewis's book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Touhy, the Christian, Southern mom who takes in Michael Oher, played by Quinton Aaron. Touhy's house is pretty standard for an upper-middle-class Southern family, but one element that caught my eye were these white dining chairs.

I love the idea of using white chairs in the dining room. The color can really lighten up the space, even if the chairs are geometric and wooden, like these. See some of my favorite white wooden chairs below.

Ask Casa: Where Can I Find This Chair?
Dear Casa,
We're currently shopping for a new dining room set, and I've been searching for chairs similar to your office chair. i think it would be a great way to keep the space open and deter from the high back chairs that come with all the Mission/ Shaker tables we like. Do you know the manufacturer or style? Most furniture stores don't understand what I'm trying to describe. Your insight is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Meghan

Do You Have Mismatched Dining Chairs?
I love the mismatched chairs around this Saarinen table in the home of Virginia Johnson. It's quirky, but it works because there's not much going on otherwise in the way of color and pattern in the room. But, I've seen this look executed in busier, brighter rooms, and it doesn't always work. Do you have mismatched dining chairs?

Steal of the Day: Railroad Tie Dining Table and Chairs
A dining table is a big investment. So why pay full price when you can swoop up a gorgeous one at 30 percent off? Made from reclaimed railroad tie wood with a sturdy, waxed metal frame, the Viva Terra Railroad Tie Dining Table and Chairs ($278-1,468) is a beautiful set for a casual, rustic home, or an eat-in kitchen if you have a separate dining room. I love its slender form and x-shaped base. The table top and chair backs, with original weathered markings, exude a sense of history that's much more interesting than anything you'd see in a showroom. I'd pair the dining table with a different set of chairs, perhaps something more comfortable for winding, conversation-filled dinners. What do you think?
