Take an ounce of NYC sophistication, a smidgen of Canadian practicality, and an ounce of LA whimsy, and you'll find yourself in the world of Tamara Kaye-Honey. The Pasadena-based interior decorator and force behind House of Honey, not to mention a mom of two, recently completed work on a nursery for the 2012 Hampton Designer Showhouse that showcases her signature "New Vintage Style."

Forgoing any hint of traditional pink or blue, or even the more popular white-on-white, Tamara transformed the space into an ode to the more eclectic side of childhood with the dark jewel box colors that highlight the Uptown Collection of baby furniture she designed in collaboration with Nurseryworks. "I pushed the envelope and created a sense of theatrics and drama with the space by using layers of pattern and pops of color to energize and inspire," she says. "The room is an artful mix of old and new with a definite point of view. I like to think it's both sophisticated yet whimsical." And push the envelope she does! Keep clicking to see how she takes dark colors and antique pieces to create a whimsical room for baby.

Style Your Home With a Giraffe Stampede

I spotted this cozy, eclectic living room in the portfolio of Los Angeles-based designer Tamara Kaye-Honey, and while I'm smitten with how the petite space was styled in general, what stood out most to me is the adorable giraffe planted on the coffee table.

I spotted this cozy, eclectic living room in the portfolio of Los Angeles-based designer Tamara Kaye-Honey, and while I'm smitten with how the petite space was styled in general, what stood out most to me is the adorable giraffe planted on the coffee table. I got to thinking that I need a giraffe in my life, or more specifically, in my home! After doing a little window shopping, I found so many giraffe figurines, I don't know where to stop!

My favorite is the Antiqued Standing Giraffe Taper ($38) from Anthropologie; I'd love to plan an exotic dinner party around just that! I'd also love to have a whole family of the tall, elegant animals living in my home; cast in bronze, the Loet Vanderveen Alert Giraffes ($2,400) would certainly fit the bill, wouldn't they?
