Desire Acquire: Saarinen Side Table
Even though Eero Saarinen's famous table was inspired by a drop of liquid, we are pretty sure it wasn't liquid gold. These days, a reissued side table is going to set you back $657. Eek!

Desire/Acquire: Accordion Side Table
My favorite way to incorporate the vintage-industrial-inspired trend that is everywhere right now is with accordian-style accessories. Their simple, architectural silhouettes are easy to work into all sorts of rooms. I've had my eye on the charming Directoire Iron Table from Zinc Door, but the $620 price tag was setting it out of my league.

Luckily, I've found a replacement that looks just as stylish for an astonishing $60! Keep reading to find out where to snag one before they're gone.
Color Pops and Cool Lines in the CPOPP Side Table
One of my favorite pieces of furniture at the Sunset Magazine Smart Homes was this joyful little side table that was placed in the living room of one of the homes.
Created by Northern California-based interior designer Curtis Popp, whose work has been featured in publications including Interior Design, Dwell, and Interni & Decor magazines, his designs share a sense of whimsy, which is definitely reflected in the first offering from his company CPopp Workshop — the Soft Side Table from the Soft Collection.
"The initial inspiration behind the table’s vernacular was the simplicity of a bundle of sticks, from there I experimented with penetration and the termination of one material into another," explains Popp. "I began with the smallest piece in the collection, because a side table is such an impromptu piece, it can serve as an ottoman, a stool, or simply as a table."
Made from wood and metal, the round wooden top sits on powder-coated metal or wood legs, and can be ordered in many different colors and configurations. I especially love how the round tabletops feature the exposed legs, which look like cheerful buttons on the walnut or white oak surfaces. Tables start at $470 and can be fully customized by request. Side Tables Inspired by the Set Design of Mildred Pierce
Kate Winslet in a sexy '30s-era period drama? Sign me up. This Sunday, the first of the five-part miniseries Mildred Pierce debuts on HBO — I don't know about you, but I'll be glued to my set. Not only does the costume design look gorgeous, but the sets do as well.
I'm particularly loving the Moroccan-influenced side table that Veda (played by Evan Rachel Wood) is resting her ashtray and glass of tomato juice upon. Inspired, I decided to round up some tables that were similar in sensibility, but would work beautifully in a modern home. My absolute, hands-down favorite is the De La Espada Luna Tray Table ($1,300), but there are plenty of beauties to choose from. Check them out below.
Before and After: An Auction Side Table's Simple and Pretty Makeover
Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member h2urHome.
As you can see my previous side table on the right was way too small for the master bedroom. This was because it was used in our last home where we had a platform bed. It just wasn't going to cut the mustard for the new room.
I found a side table at an auction. (It was dirty!) I put off refinishing the table because I just wasn't into cleaning it up. (Did I mention it was dirty?) I finally had to paint the table because I sold my small Ikea malm side table on Craigslist.
Here's what it looked like when I bought it.
(Can you believe the garbage that I found in it?) Keep reading to see how h2urhome renovated the table.
I Spy With My Little Eye . . . C-Tables!
Call me lazy, but as any fellow fan of the laptop-couch combo knows, sometimes it can be tricky to arrange your living room seating and side tables just right for optimal typing, sitting, and sipping of a corked or brewed beverage. For this reason, I've been on the hunt for the ideal small-space-friendly side table, the C-table. Shaped like, what else, the letter C, this handy little table slides right into your couch for easily stashing a wine glass or coffee mug while perusing the Internet, without constantly having to bend forward to a coffee table or reach over high armrests. I'm all about the chic Smart Marble Top C-Table ($129) from CB2 that I saw on Rebecca of Loving Living Small's blog, but it's not the only one I'm eying. From $10 (yes, seriously!) deals to pricey designer pieces, see my other faves below!
Roundup: Treasure Trunks

My mother just moved and was kind enough to fill my sister's NYC apartment with all of her unwanted furniture. An antique trunk that was formerly used as a side table now has a new career as a coffee table in the diminutive two-bedroom. Better yet, it doubles as storage for throws and other odds and ends! My grandmother gave each of her daughters an antique trunk when they left for college, so this one in particular has sentimental value. But regardless of their history, a wood trunk is a timeless purchase that's extremely versatile. So if you come across one that you love, particularly an antique, I highly suggest you scoop it up! There are plenty of beautiful new ones on the market, too. Here are a few of my favorites.

Cool Idea: A Well-Read Stool
I headed to New Orleans to celebrate Halloween this year, and while I was down in the Crescent City, I also spent a couple days at Voodoo Fest. When I tired of the rowdy MGMT and Ozzy Osborne crowds, I snuck off with some red beans and rice to the "Cinema" lounge, which was furnished entirely out of upcycled materials. I fell hard for these stools made of rolled up offBeat magazines (NOLA's local music pub). Each stool was made of a few dozen magazines or newspapers, which were held together with a nylon belt or strap.
Always suspicious, I tested out the stools myself, and they were super sturdy! Of course, you could also use them as side tables for books and small accessories. In any case, I must say they're clever and easy on the eyes! What do you think?
