DIY: Wine Cork Placecard Holders

I spotted these Wine Cork Placecard Holders ($23.95) at Bright and Bold, which are actually made of resin, and thought they'd make a fabulous and simple DIY for a bridal shower brunch (or any other event). It's kind of a sad fact that these are being mass produced, but we won't get into that. I'm sure most guests would get a kick out of them, especially my girlfriends who are staunch wine fans. If you can handle drinking a few bottles of wine to save up for this DIY, then I think you'll be in the clear, supply-wise. But, you can also have cork stoppers special ordered from an industrial retailer and personalized with "Mrs. X" or "Angie & Brad" etc.

Supplies:

  • 1 wine cork per place setting
  • Razor blade or X-acto (craft) knife
  • Cardstock
  • Calligraphy pen
  • Optional: Hot glue gun and magnet strip

The Card Shop: Vegas Bachelorette Invites

I must preface this post by saying, "Yes, this invite is rather kitschy."

I must preface this post by saying, "Yes, this invite is rather kitschy." But, Vegas is kitschy too, so I whole-heartedly embrace it! Despite the rhinestones, the Beyond Design Custom Vegas Bachelorette Party Invitation ($4.75) is actually well-designed, affordable, and seems to be good quality. The custom invitation includes the invite with ribbon, poker chip and matching envelopes, and you have the option of having custom poker chip necklaces made for an additional $12. But, honestly, I'd save the extra 12 bucks for the slot machines! Would you send this for a friend's Vegas bachelorette party?

Adorable Kitchen Cakes

This week PartySugar's busy planning a spectacular Bridal Shower.

This week PartySugar's busy planning a spectacular Bridal Shower. There's a fantastic menu and beautifully-made printable invites. However if you're the one headed to the shower, not planning it, I found this adorable kitchen "cake" for you to bring.

This adorable Kitchen Cake ($59) from Etsy seller Hold the Flour, comes with an assortment of kitchen gadgets, such as heart-shaped measuring spoons, bell-shaped cookie cutters, and whisks, all wrapped up in a plush towel. Inside you'll find a bottle of Lemongrass Zen soap.

I think it's so cute, and would definitely make a nice centerpiece at a party. While this one looks extremely well put together, you could always experiment by creating your own. If you do, what sort of things would you put into it? Tell us in the comments below.

Who Designs Your Nuptial Décor?

You may not be a DIY bride but you probably enjoy being involved in most of the details of your wedding day.

You may not be a DIY bride but you probably enjoy being involved in most of the details of your wedding day. There are some engaged gals, though, that leave it all (invites, floral arrangements, color scheme, tablecloths, etc.) up to a wedding planner (or their moms). Take this poll and let me know where you fall in the bunch.

The Card Shop: A Botanical Bridal Shower

I love this set of bridal shower invitations ($14.50 for a set of 12), in part because it reminds me a little of my recent trend alert.

Song of the Day: Landon Pigg, "Coffee Shop"

Landon Pigg's "Coffee Shop" is a song I'll probably always associate with engagement proposals and diamond rings.

Landon Pigg's "Coffee Shop" is a song I'll probably always associate with engagement proposals and diamond rings. The song first wiggled its way into my subconscious over the holiday season as the backdrop for those "a diamond is forever" ads with the couple kissing in the car in a snowy city. When I finally heard the full version of the song several weeks back, it seemed like I'd already been listening to it for years — and in a good way. It's sweet and somehow comforting, and I think it would be a great pick if you're looking for songs for an engagement party.

The song is currently available on Pigg's Coffee Shop EP, but you can also just give it a listen if you read more

Product of the Day: Bachelorette Party Invitations

Bachelor and bachelorette parties are so odd to me.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties are so odd to me. Some of them seem to undermine the symbolism of the romantic gesture of getting married. Like, how does having a stripper grind on you during a lap dance signify that you're ready to walk down the aisle with your sweetie? And how does telling your friends you finally picked a pr*ck bode well for your upcoming nuptials? (Yeah, I know. I need to lighten up.)
