Shaw Floors' 30 Days of HGTV Kicks Off Today — Vote and Win!

In July, I joined nine other design bloggers for an opportunity of a lifetime in North Carolina: a design challenge, hosted by Shaw Floors, to build a room from the ground up using a selection from the new HGTV Home Flooring by Shaw Floors line, which includes carpet, area rugs, hardwood, and laminate.

After being split into teams of two, Katy of Charles & Hudson and I chose a fabulous gray carpet and designed a cozy, chic, "urban bachelorette pad" from scratch in less than two days! I recapped the whole experience last week, so be sure to read all about how our room came together.

The experience was a blast from start to finish, and now I get to announce how all that hard work pays off for all of us! Our room (and our competitors' four other rooms) are part of Shaw Floor's 30 Days of HGTV campaign, which kicks off today. You can vote for your favorite room every day in September, and each day you vote you'll be entered to win a whole entire room of flooring!

Voting is easy! To enter, just like Shaw Floors on Facebook, click on the 30 Days of HGTV Home tab on the left, enter your email address, register, click Get Started, and then cast your vote for your favorite room! And, of course, this goes without saying, but Katy and I will be happy as clams if you vote for our room design!

How I Designed an Urban Bachelorette Pad From Scratch . . . in Less Than Two Days!

Last month, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Last month, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime. Shaw Floors, one of the nation's leading flooring manufacturers, invited me, along with nine terrific design bloggers, to North Carolina to learn about its new line of flooring for HGTV Home, which includes carpet, area rugs, hardwood, and laminate. In addition to being treated to a private tour of the Biltmore Estate, the largest private home in the US, in Asheville, dining like royalty, and staying at two beautiful hotels, including Greensboro's Proximity Hotel, we were offered the once-in-a-lifetime experience to design a room from the floor up, using Shaw HGTV flooring, paint from the Sherwin-Williams HGTV line, and our choice of furniture and accessories from the mammoth prop room of Tribuzio-Hilliard, a commercial photography studio in Greensboro that shoots and styles home furnishing catalogs.

With 100 percent creative control, I designed a room from floor to ceiling in less than two days. Thinking about how many months interior designers have to design rooms in showhouses or their clients' homes, I'm incredibly proud that the space I created reflects my tastes, feels unique and stylish, and has a lot of visually interesting things happening in it. I can't wait to share this experience with you, so please click through and learn how my special space came together!
