Pantone has knighted its color of the year for 2014: radiant orchid! The hue (Pantone number 18-3224) is a bright blend of fuchsia and purple with a tinge of pink. With its warm, rosy undertones, we can't help but think of tropical flowers (er, orchids) and dazzling island sunsets. Next year, rock the radiant-orchid color family on purple-powered tech gear!
"Sophisticated . . . luxurious . . . the color of beauty" is how Pantone describes the 2013 color of the year, emerald. I already loved the color as it is, but how can you argue with descriptions like that when deciding between product styles? Spend the year with tech accessories in the rich color of renewal.
If you're stumped on all the different ways to wear emerald in 2013, look no further than the Sephora + Pantone makeup collection. Last year's Color of the Year collaboration was all tangerine, but this year's collection proves you really can wear green with plenty of options from nail polish and shadow to lashes and brushes. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until March to pick up these goods, but once you do, your girlfriends will be green with envy.
Pantone has made its annual choice for color of the year, crowning turquoise the tint of 2010! "Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing," according to a company statement. The hue is also said to be universally flattering, making it translate easily into interiors.
Its undertones of both warm and cool colors give it the ability to pair with any color in the spectrum — and in your home! Try introducing a little turquoise into your home this coming year with one of these fabulous furnishings below. Or, be inspired by my slideshow on decorating with turquoise!
