More Breakups Than New Relationships on Facebook in 2010

When you look at 2010 by the numbers, it looks like a brokenhearted year for Facebook users.

When you look at 2010 by the numbers, it looks like a brokenhearted year for Facebook users. Thirty-five percent more users changed their relationship status to "single" than to "in a relationship." Here's the breakdown:

  • 43.9 million people changed their relationship status to single
  • 3 million changed it to it’s complicated
  • 28.5 million changed their status to in a relationship
  • 6 million to engaged
  • 36.8 to married

Of course, that doesn't account for the three million people who already had "complicated" relationships, people who never change their status, and those who handle relationship-status changes by my preferred method: hiding it all together.

We were walking through Union Square in NYC and found this market, I just had to take a photo.

Savory Sight: Five Guys

Whether you prefer In-N-Out or Five Guys, there's no denying that this photo of a burger that marzbars took is scrumptious-looking.

William Shatner Reveals He Doesn't Really Tweet at TCAs

Hot on the star-studded heels of Comic-Con comes the 2010 Summer TCAs in Southern California.

Hot on the star-studded heels of Comic-Con comes the 2010 Summer TCAs in Southern California. It's a chance for TV luminaries, networks, and press to chat about their upcoming seasons and new shows. There's one show in particular that I'm looking forward to, not only because it's based off of a famous Twitter stream, but also because it stars the geektastic William Shatner. BuzzSugar was in attendance of the CBS $#*! My Dad Says panel in LA, and got the inside scoop on Mr. Shatner's Twitter habits, which apparently are not his alone. He says:

I know it's 148 characters . . . well I don't Twitter. I can't even remember my password. I have problems with electronics. What I've done is I've hired a young man out of college whose very fingers are extension of computer keys. He does the mechanics. But I very carefully modulate what I say and have used Twitter to publicize stuff, to have conversations, to instigate competition. It's been an exploration in immediate language. I have had a growing and glowing experience with Twitter.

Although William Shatner's Twitter feed has brought me many a smile since it launched, I can't help but say that I'm a bit disappointed that it's not really him tweeting. Maybe with enough encouragement he'll come around!

Karl Lagerfeld Says Dresses at amfAR's AIDS Gala Are Better Than "Fake" Fashion at Oscars

Actor Alan Cumming hosted amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2010 benefit gala at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France last night.

Actor Alan Cumming hosted amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS 2010 benefit gala at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France last night. Actresses, movie moguls, philanthropists, fashion designers, and supermodels showed up (and dressed up) for a great cause—with Carine Roitfeld, Tom Ford, Georgina Chapman, Constance Jablonksi, Peter Dundas, Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell, and Dree Hemingway (above in Valentino Haute Couture) representing the best dressed fashion contingent.

Mary J. Blige and Patti Smith performed during the event, and the year's auction raised 7.5 million euros in three hours. Karl Lagerfeld, in white jeans, noted it was a better-dressed crowd than what he's seen at the Oscars. “The fashion is fantastic tonight,” he said. “At the Oscars, it’s fake. People wear what they think they should wear. Here, people wear what they like, not because they are obliged.” Click through our favorite looks from the evening in the gallery below.

Loomstate Drums Up Anticipation For Earth Day

Midtown Manhattan isn't the first place one expects to encounter a drum circle, but last night 40 musicians gathered in Good Units at Hudson to make a racket in honor of Earth Day.

Midtown Manhattan isn't the first place one expects to encounter a drum circle, but last night 40 musicians gathered in Good Units at Hudson to make a racket in honor of Earth Day. The occasion was a Loomstate-sponsored bash that got a head start on commemorating the green holiday, which actually isn't until next week on the 22nd, but that hardly seemed to bother anyone. As an added bonus, Loomstate sponsored a party bus to take downtown kids afraid of crossing 14th St. unaccompanied all the way to the Hudson's 58th St. location.

There were more than a few eco-friendly fashion fans who ventured out to join the label's designers, Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn, in enjoying the surprisingly awesome drumming and accompanying video installation. Rogan and Scott were in good company with other creatives like Pamela Love and the gang from threeASFOUR milling about and dancing to tunes from Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, who took over as DJ once all the drumming stopped.

Fashion's Night Out Launches Collection of Branded Merchandise For 2010 Event

Fashion's Night Out—the Vogue-approved, worldwide shopping event—is officially scheduled for a second installment, kicking off New York Fashion Week on September 10.

Fashion's Night Out—the Vogue-approved, worldwide shopping event—is officially scheduled for a second installment, kicking off New York Fashion Week on September 10. Last year, crowds lined up for in-store promotions and special guest appearances, with designers and Voguettes (even Anna!) sporting the evening's official tee.

Come September it might be a little easier to get your hands on Fashion's Night Out gear. Branded merchandise (short-sleeved t-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, tanks, and hoodies—all printed with an abstracted cityscape) will be available at participating retailers. For stores interested in selling the limited-edition collection, orders must be placed by April 30 at fnocollection@fashionsnightout.com.

And don't forget, the making of FNO will be the subject of an hour-long special on CBS at 8 p.m. on Sept. 15.
