This set of four, brass-studded, Leather Bound Trunks ($15,000) likely once served as travel storage for a sophisticated lady on a worldly voyage like Angelina Jolie in Changeling. But, as these How Would Yous tend to go, I'm not interested in offering up suitcases to you. I want to know how you'd use these elegant antique suitcases in your home as décor. Would you use one as a coffee table? Stack them beside a reading chair as a side table? Turn them into planters? Hang them on the wall? Turn them into pet beds? Paint them? Fill them with old love letters? I know you can come up with a creative use for these ancient beauties. Tell me by commenting below!
I've written about painted headboards before (and even DIY'd my own), so it's really nothing new. But, I am loving how design firm Shelton, Mindel & Associates made the entire wall behind this sleeping space a focal point with bold stripes, and within that created a focal point above the headboard by painting stripes in a slightly lighter shade than the rest. This look is really easy and affordable to achieve in your own home. And, if you don't have a real headboard of your own as this room does, the rectangle of lighter stripes can serve as a headboard alternative. What do you think? Source
I personally don't know much about the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui, and I've always felt like there's too much to learn to get it right. But, I have friends who swear that it's improved their lives by sending them "positive Qi." Do you practice feng shui? Have you made an attempt? Do you think it's a hoax? What's your take?Source
If the Anthropologie Upholstery Sale didn't strike your fancy, perhaps Jayson Home & Garden's Fall Upholstery Sale will. Now through Oct. 13, the retailer is cutting prices by 20 percent on all in-stock and special order upholstery pieces. Pretty rad, right? Unfortunately, some of the pieces will still cost you an arm and a leg. But if you've been holding out for that special something, maybe this sale will push you over the edge. Here's what I wouldn't mind taking home from the sale:
The general rule in my house is that whoever cooks gets to sit out when it comes time to do the dishes. But it often ends up being a shared task. Who does the dishes in your house?Source
Add any cool additions to your house lately? Maybe a porch? Maybe just a new mirror? Whatever you're doing, I want to see it!
Show off all of your home views, both interior and exterior, in my group on TeamSugar called Su Casa, where readers can share snapshots and stories related to home decorating, crafts, organizing, and gardening.
A Su Casa post could be anything from a photo of a loved one's home to a tiny nook you're tickled by. Think of it as a Look Book for home style. If I see something I like in Su Casa, I might feature it on CasaSugar, so don't be surprised if you get an email from me!
