I recently came across an adorable holiday idea that I simply couldn't resist sharing with you . . . and ooohing and ahhhing over it. I may not be of the Jewish faith, but I'm seriously jonesing for this adorable embroidered menorah by Floresita. Yeah, the snowflakes and the miniature tree amp up the cute factor, but I just love how mother-of-pearl buttons act as candlelight. This would make a perfect holiday gift or decoration for anyone celebrating Hanukkah this year. Perhaps if you're having a dinner party, you could embroider a name onto each piece of fabric, and use it as a place card that doubles as a gift. You could also use a similar format to embroider a chandelier using buttons. You like? Source
Artist Andrew Phares doesn't leave his creativity in the studio. On the contrary: His eye for design, unique antiques, and tongue-in-cheek vintage signage and toys is evident throughout his Bay Area home. There's so much to take in, in fact, that I've decided to break this slideshow up into several separate posts! Here, I'll show you Andy's entry, living, and dining rooms. To check out his absolutely unique and inspiring home, and to hear what he has to say about it, check out the slideshow.
This Old House recently featured the home of a Fairfield, CT, family who drastically transformed their 1953 Cape Cod home after enduring serious renovations, including raising the roof to add four bedrooms and two baths upstairs. Shown here is the former living room, with busy, antiquated wallpaper and worn oak floors that certainly don't help to make the space feel larger. With a little paint, some floor stain, an overhaul of the fireplace, and a lot of DIY demolition, the Kuryluk family transformed the room into an airy, modern space that's up-to-date and stylish. Although I'd buy a pair of entirely green roller skates like these in an instant, this product just looks like a lone green skate. As it turns out, it's quite useful around the house. Can you tell me what this product is?
In addition to the fabulous wardrobes and beautiful faces in the now-defunct or maybe notLipstick Jungle, the interiors are also something to fawn over, as we've seen with Wendy Healy's relaxed interior style. But Healy isn't the only one with a keen eye for design. Nico Reilly, editor-in-chief of the hot fashion magazine Bonfire, has a high-rise office that's as slick and no-nonsense as she. Her office is modern and minimal to give off a professional face for clients, but her stylish accessories add personal flair to the space. For example, her chair and sofa are simple in white, but their button tufting and mid-century modern legs give them hip appeal. To see where you can find these pieces and get the look of Nico's office, check out this slideshow!

I recently showed you how to steal ideas from Anthropologie's catalog, and today I'm back with more impressive styling from Swedish design shop Mimou. A purveyor of bed and table linens, cushions, poufs, and wallpaper, I ache for Mimou's fantastic materials and gorgeous design. But since I have no plans to head to Scandinavia in the near future, and I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay international shipping fees, I figure I might as well use its catalog for a little inspiration. To see how you can steal ideas from Mimou's catalog, check out this slideshow.
