I think the idea of Laurie Wisbrun's new Birdies on a Chair fabric ($8) is cute as well as the design. But, I wish the white chairs would pop more against the blue background, and I think the palette could be reworked a bit. I guess I'd say I'm undecided. You?
Chandelier Creative is a three-year-old, full-service creative agency based in New York City with a focus on fashion, beauty, retail, travel, and luxury lifestyle brands. Among Chandelier's clients are Coca Cola, Four Seasons, Parfums Givenchy, Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Old Navy, Nanette Lepore, and W Hotels. Though the agency's client list is certainly an impressive one, you know me: I find myself more taken with the interior design of its SoHo penthouse, designed by agency owner, Richard Christiansen. Much like its work, Chandelier's space is slick, colorful, and imaginative and in every sense far from what the word "office" conjures in even the most forward-thinking mind. Here, a black leather Chesterfield sofa with matching tufted Louis XIV chairs and a Saarinen table set on glossy white floors form a creative conference area. Soccer balls roll about to lighten the mood. A Chippendale chair at a turned wood dining table makes a desk space, and an overflowing book case with colorfully spined volumes infuses the space with life and language. I just spied this inventive idea on Real Simple and couldn't help but pass it along, considering that my gadget cords all look like a messy ball of yarn. If you're anything like me, and you've got cords for your camera, iPod, computer, BlackBerry, blow-dryer, speakers, television, DVD player, etc. clogging up your outlets, God bless you. No really, if that's the case, then here's a trick for you. When you've finished a roll of toilet paper, just slide it over a collection of your cords to keep them contained and untangled. Or, you can use it to keep a single cord from coming unwound once you've folded it up for storage. This is particularly a great idea to keep in mind come Dec. 26 when you've got tree lights to store! Brad Pitt's been spotted on many a magazine cover for his latest movies and tabloid-famous family, but now the star graces the cover of the January issue of Architectural Digest. The star with a passion for architecture who's contributed eco designs for Dubai and worked with Global Green on affordable housing is making the leap to the shelter magazine world. Pitt shares the cover with one of the 150 eco-friendly homes in New Orleans that he is helping to sponsor and build through his Make It Right Foundation.

It only makes sense that Oakland, CA, artist Victoria Skirpa makes stunning sculptures and covetable jewelry from her one-bedroom apartment overlooking Lake Merritt. After all, the lake is known as "the jewel of Oakland," and Victoria's apartment, location, and beautiful jewelry (she's having a special invite-only sale this upcoming weekend) are all equally treasurable. When I visited her home, I was literally drooling over her crazy views, as well as her very cool vintage furniture finds, original artwork, and unbelievable closet space (I am incredibly envious of this last item). Since there's so much good stuff to see, we'll take this tour in bite-size pieces, starting with her entry and studio/living room.
Holidays are on my mind lately, and I love seeing all the creative ways others decorate their homes at this time of year. I'm always looking for inspiration to try new things in my own home. We each have our own traditions for the holidays and the seasons, and personalizing our homes is often a large part of those rituals. For example, TeamSugar member Peggasus decided to add some holiday cheer to this Marlin (which she caught herself — it took her two hours to reel it in) by topping its fin with a Santa hat. So, for this Su Casa challenge, I'd like you to share photos of your own holiday decorating with the rest of us in the Su Casa Group. You have all month to get your photos in, and feel free to add a caption, talking about how you achieved your festive look, where your accents are from, or what your holiday traditions are when it comes to decking the halls! Two lucky participants will win the CasaSugar swag of their choice, so it's definitely worth taking a snapshot or two of your home! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your inspired decor! Source
Whatever the income bracket, we're all on a budget these days. Not simply because of the struggling economy, but due to all of the gifts on our shopping lists. So, why not cut back where we can? If great gifts exist at low prices, why not snatch them up? I've rounded up a handful of fab gifts for the home that'll cost you only five bucks or less. Pick up a few to make a little gift basket, give just one as a Secret Santa gift or a small token for a co-worker, or buy a bundle to use as stocking stuffers. You choose! I just do the work.
