Holidays are on my mind lately, and I love seeing all the creative ways others decorate their homes at this time of year. I'm always looking for inspiration to try new things in my own home. We each have our own traditions for the holidays and the seasons, and personalizing our homes is often a large part of those rituals. For example, TeamSugar member Peggasus decided to add some holiday cheer to this Marlin (which she caught herself — it took her two hours to reel it in) by topping its fin with a Santa hat. So, for this Su Casa challenge, I'd like you to share photos of your own holiday decorating with the rest of us in the Su Casa Group. You have all month to get your photos in, and feel free to add a caption, talking about how you achieved your festive look, where your accents are from, or what your holiday traditions are when it comes to decking the halls! Two lucky participants will win the CasaSugar swag of their choice, so it's definitely worth taking a snapshot or two of your home! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your inspired decor! Source
Whatever the income bracket, we're all on a budget these days. Not simply because of the struggling economy, but due to all of the gifts on our shopping lists. So, why not cut back where we can? If great gifts exist at low prices, why not snatch them up? I've rounded up a handful of fab gifts for the home that'll cost you only five bucks or less. Pick up a few to make a little gift basket, give just one as a Secret Santa gift or a small token for a co-worker, or buy a bundle to use as stocking stuffers. You choose! I just do the work. Charles and Ray Eames are legends in the design world. Their furniture designs, from the molded rocker to the Eames lounge and ottoman, are pieces any modernist worth her salt is either saving for or proudly displaying.
The Eames are also known for their modular work, which was first seen in the 1940 Organic Design competition, and established the beauty and practicality of a modular approach to architecture. Their Pacific Palisades, CA, home echoes this philosophy, with its modular, affordable construction and open plan layout. In 1978, the Eames House received the American Institute of Architects' Twenty-five Year Award. If you're in California, you can visit the house, but only the exterior. And, if you're lucky enough to be an Eames Foundation Member who's let in for the once-a-year interior tour, you can't take photos. So, to get the inside scoop, check out the slideshow, which contains original images of the home, Charles Eames, and his designs from 1950. Peter Stackpole for Life Magazine
If you're thinking about redecorating your kitchen, take a tip from designer Miles Redd, whose home was recently featured on Domino. Here, he extended the wallpaper to fit across the backsplash, which unifies the space while providing an unexpected visual quirkiness. You can find similar wallpaper to this from the wide-striped paper from the walls to the backsplash to unify the room. If you love this wallpaper, check out Sandberg, a Swedish textiles company, for similar designs.

Not to be a brat or anything, but my family has been using the same gigantic Christmas stockings for more than 20 years, always filled to the brim with lots of goodies. So, at 12" x 21", the John Robshaw Block Printed Holly Stockings ($70 each) won't do for me, but they're certainly stylish enough to hang on the mantel simply as décor in my home. Available with a mistletoe, candy cane, or peppermint pattern, they're quite festive and would also make a wonderful gift for anyone you know who's building up their collection of holiday décor. What do you think?
