Since I'm starting to deck the house for the holidays, I'm looking for inspiration and new ideas for decorating my home. Luckily, I found some great inspiration on Su Casa from MellyMels.
Mellymels writes,
Since it's a recession and I am an artist I decided to make a lot of decorations from paper. I also got my very first artificial tree, since I have allergies and my boyfriend has asthma (plus the dog likes to eat tree needles).
I printed reversed letters on card stock and then cut them out so when they were flipped you couldn't see the printed lines showing me where to cut. Then I just used double stick tape to hang them them up. This is my first time living with a fireplace so I was determined to spruce it up.
Yesterday, we toured Victoria's fabulous entry, living room, and studio space. Victoria, a jeweler living by "the jewel of Oakland," Lake Merritt, is the lucky inhabitant of a Deco-era apartment that features much of the original detailing, including several stunning chandeliers (such as the one shown here). To continue the tour with a turn around her study, check out the slideshow.
This year we said goodbye to Home, O at Home, and Cottage Living, and many of those shelter mags that aren't closing shop are still teetering. With shelter magazines folding left and right, this is a tough category, but there's still plenty of great content out there. So tell me, which is your fave? Source
Cool home finds don't necessarily come in expensive packages. Take these three finds, which are all under $10. Each would add a fresh touch to your home (or the home of a loved one) without lightening your pocketbook significantly. Yesterday, I showed you some great gifts under $5, and today I'm back with some more home-related presents that will gift your friends and family with lots of style for a little cash. I've found some great gifts that are all under $10, so you can pick up a few to make a little gift basket, give as a Secret Santa gift or a small token for a co-worker, or buy to use as thoughtful gifts for your circle of friends. If you like the look of these gifts, find out where they came from, as well as a lot of other cool, cheap finds, when you read more
Clocks have long been a fixture in homes worldwide, with not only a time-keeping function but also an aesthetic one. But as we've become drawn to our computers, cell phones, PDAs, and electronic kitchen appliances, we've found ourselves with little need for a free-standing clock, and these handsome things have fallen by the wayside. Personally, I like to put my gadgets to rest and out of my bedroom so I can have uninterrupted sleep, but I'll gladly grandfather in a good-looking desk clock. Lately, I've been looking for a handsome modern desk clock with a white face. So, I thought I'd round up a few that I'm thinking about. First (Good), the Jonas Damon Twice Once Clock ($80) is a modern reinterpretation of the two-sided railway station clock. I like its minimal face, and the punch of color its orange hands bring. The seat and back of this chair are made entirely from a certain recycled tech gadget that every little boy (and plenty of grown ones) loves. Can you tell me what it is?
