Winter Views on the Sea

Updated 01/23/12 9:11 AM · Posted by · 0 comments

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

winter + sea

Here's some special winter decor for the patios and gardens. Snow, giant lanterns, plants, and reindeer furs — totally weird yet so cute it makes me wish I could do the same!

The combination is so unusual that it definitely wins the eclectic inspiration award prize for the day. Just love this garden setup and that fab sea view!

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

Designer Kim Samson certainly loves the outdoors no matter what the weather is, and she brings the outdoors in to her white-based and so Scandinavian house. Sheep outside as well as sheep inside in the form of rugs is a major theme in this funky home. And all, of course, with the always fashionable, uber-chic and rustic Nordic touch . . .

Inspired Painted Stair Runners

Updated 01/13/12 2:33 PM · Posted by · 0 comments

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

I slipped in the stairs today, which made me think that it would be great to have a stair runner — nothing boring but something great with stripes in red or shades of pink or similar. So I started browsing runners, but got sidetracked and found all these cute and cool painted stairs and runners.

They are absolutely fantastic — some fun and funky, other artistic masterpieces and tour guides to wonders of the world — and all of them definitely a result of lots of tears and sweat!

Time For New Year's Eve Party Prep

Updated 12/29/11 3:47 PM · Posted by · 0 comments

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

Party table

New Year's Eve is just days away, so it's time to start thinking of the evening's decor and search for some inspiration. Be it cute home-made labels for the bubbly, wine or water bottles, a cute centrepiece with the ball dropping a la NYC, or a full-blown table setup for dinner, the sky is the limit when it comes to colors and decor (although silver and gold in stars and baubles still seem to be the winning combination when it comes to popularity...).

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

This is the season to sparkly and create beautiful tablescapes. Several days of guests and events give many opportunities to experiment and try new things — colors, dishes, centerpieces . . . you name it!

These Holiday Season Entrances Are Full of Inspiration

Updated 12/10/11 8:05 AM · Posted by · 0 comments

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

Christmas entrance

I can only imagine how pretty these houses look inside based on their beautiful entrances. Seems to me that the most common color combinations still are red plus either silver, gold, or white with plenty of green blended in, they are just breathtaking and happy looking. Oh, how I love this season, especially at night when one can go and spot the little lights twinkling in the house and the garden . . .

A DIY Advent Calendar For the Holiday Season

Updated 12/02/11 8:54 AM · Posted by · 1 comment

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

The second day on the road to Christmas brings the finalized advent calendar. The whole thing ended up being rather heavy, so I finally decided to hang the buckets from the garland that runs on the stairwell balustrade. A bit risky since the kids pass them a zillion times a day and the height is just right. Guess it's time to teach these little nippers some self-control!

Did it take a long time to hang these buckets — oh yes! At least a little smooth background music and romantic candlelight and the lights in the tree created a fun atmosphere to work in. End result: not quite what I originally pictured but pretty nice anyway. Leaves some space for improvement next year . . .

1st of December!

Finally here — what surprises will the first bucket hold this year...

Getting ready for that final step

All 24 ready, first kids to sleep, then buckets up, tissues in, and first lot of surprises too (not trusting that the newly taught self-control will kick in immediately)

24 buckets ready to go

The night before December first - our advent calendar is ready to go up (and it's nicer to work in candlelight)

The night before...Dec 1st

Romantic candlelight and a glass of wine helped this little elf to complete the crafting project

The last ones are up!

The last ones are up. We'll see how many will come down because of nosy little kids . . .

Inspired by Black and White Interiors and Celerie Kemble

Here's a post from OnSugar blog House of Anaïs:

Black and white decor

Black and white decor. It can look really warm or rather cold. Celerie Kemble's new book Black and White (and a Bit in Between) certainly shows the warmer and also cute(r) side of black and white decor, and a bit more sometimes. These rooms below certainly have the element that makes them pop out — be it the bold patterned area rug, or the dotted wallpaper. The looks are a bit more traditional, but certainly not too formal.

This book is definitely worth a second look. If you get a peek of the book I'd love to hear how you liked it...
