While we do have a dishwasher, I find that I am a much better dishwasher than it is. Plus, I hate waiting until the dishwasher is full to run a load. There's something that bothers me about knowing that the dishwasher is half full of dirty dishes. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy doing dishes by hand. What about you?

I have lived without a dishwasher for 4 years...I don't even remember what it's like to have one! I must admit, I can't wait to move and have one though.
1Sure, washing dishes by hand can be meditative, and calming, but then it stresses me out that i am probably wasting a LOT more water than if i ran a full dishwasher.
2I have had a dishwasher in last few places I've lived, and never acquired a taste for using them. I not only like the control I have when washing dishes, I like using drying cloths that my mom sewed for me 20 years ago, and that still look new.
3I don't mind hand washing dishes at all. I wash knives and everything that's made out of glass by hand, because they usually suffer in the dishwasher.
4I do the dish washing thing at my homes.
5same thing. I have a dish washer but feel better about washing by hand.
The real question is... which one is more friendly on the environment?
6I don't have a dishwasher.... my dishes pile up so much! I hate washing dishes!!
7I have two dish washers, one is a Maytag and the other one I married three years ago.
8My dishwasher is my best friend. When you have loose muscle tone (aka ataxic cerebral palsy) in your wrists, you've got no other choice unless you want some major wrist pain!
9Personally I rinse my dishes off, then store in my dishwasher until I have a full load.Same as my laundry ,it's EASY to be green that way,It's a known fact the machines use far less water and energy, than a person does.
10Did my last post make me sound like an ass?lol, sorry.
11I don't have a dishwasher but I want one so bad!!! I hate washing the dishes by hand.
12Using the dishwasher is annoying. Rinsing, loading, unloading - I'd rather just hand wash. Unfortunately, I'm a bit lazy about it. But that's what my husband is for, he actually enjoyes washing dishes (crazy man!).
13I hate doing the dishes! It's probably my least favorite chore. Thank goodness I have a dish washer (and it's not my husband. He'd laugh at my face
14Oh and from what I heard it's way greener to use the dishwasher...
I have a family and we eat at home, so I have at least one load of dishes per day. I worship my dishwasher, it is the best appliance ever! The only things I wash by hand are my knives and my delicate wine glasses, everything else goes into the dishwasher!
15I went about 2 years without a dishwasher at home. It was terrible! We cook every night, so there was always at least a half hour of dishes after we ate (usually more than a half hour!), and also in the morning after we had coffee, cereal, or left over dishes from the previous night. I hated it!
16I prefer to hand wash my dishes if there are only a few of them (not piled up on the counters, in the sink, etc). I also like to hand wash non-stick skillets, or stainless steel skillets that have stuff stuck to them. Oh, and I always hand wash things I make eggs in, because in the dishwasher, it seems like the egg particles get crusted on, and it's super annoying.
Hand washing is therapeutic for me in moderation. I also have a dishwasher, which I use all the time. However, I do a better job cleaning my dishes the first time around than it does sometimes.
17i do what southern guy said. rinse them well and then wait til i have a full load. i hate doing dishes!
18I love washing dishing tons! Oh and I've NEVER used a dishwasher!
19I live alone, and when I didn't have a dishwasher I would use and wash the same plate and bowl and silverware every day.
Now I have a dishwasher, so I can use all of them, but I agree with the poster who says that
unloading the thing is a pain. And I *hate* when people put pots and pans in the dishwasher!! Those I hand-wash, along with wine glasses.
20I don't actually have a dishwasher
so it's the way I always do it! But, when I'm at my
sister's (who does) I still hand wash!
