We fell instantly in love with the vibrant, feminine watercolors on AphroChic's new Brooklyn Life placemats, and knew they were a perfect choice for our "Gifts For Her" video gift guide. The talented woman behind those winning watercolors is Manhattan-based illustrator Samantha Hahn. As you might expect, her portfolio of work is a marvel of chic, vivid paintings. It's no surprise: Samantha says she spent her youth doing "nothing more than drawing all day long, looking through fashion magazines and visiting The Museum of Modern Art where I’d admire the art and get a black and white cookie." She went on from her days at the MoMA to study illustration at Syracuse University, and art education at Columbia University. Now, she spends her time teaching art and doing freelance illustration for the likes of Marie Claire, Glamour, Conde Nast, Victoria's Secret, Barnes and Noble, and a roster of noted clients.
