Waldo Fernandez Designs Greenroom For the 2012 Academy Awards

Architectural Digest chose AD100 interior designer Waldo Fernandez to create the magazine's greenroom at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. This will be the 10th consecutive year that Architectural Digest will have the honor of producing the backstage lounge for Oscar presenters and honorees.

As a UCLA architecture and design student, Fernandez helped create sets for major motion pictures like Planet of the Apes and Dr. Dolittle. His ties to Hollywood, which include a star-studded roster of clientele, and his signature California-casual style made him a natural fit for the job. Inspired by Hollywood's Golden Era of the '30s and '40s, Fernandez wanted to honor the beauty of classic Hollywood glamour through a modern lens. Filled with references to director George Cukor's Beverly Hills home, the Greenroom is intended to evoke the vibe of Cukor's legendary parties.
