CS: How did you choose the cover image for the book?

KP: You know, the publisher just really loved that image so much; it's one of my favorites for sure. People might not initially look at it and realize all the different elements, the high and low shopping that went into it, but if you read the book, you'll see. The light fixtures are from Restoration Hardware, we just had to cut the shades, the bench in the middle is from Craigslist . . . you know what I mean? It's definitely a good photo to illustrate my philosophy, so we all kind of agreed that that was the shot, and I think a lot of people like that image, too.
