CS: Do you work with a variety of clients? I feel like there's so much that's accessible to a wide variety of home decorators in the book.
KP: Some designers turn down work if they think it's too small of a project, but I almost never turn down anything. I only do if I'm too busy and I feel like I can't devote as much time to it as I would like. I take other things; some of the projects in there are people's apartments, some are mansions. I like the variety of each genre, because with each budget you have to think differently and creatively. [This is true] whether you're working with a teeny budget and have to be creative in making everything go really far, or you're working with an endless budget, which is almost harder because you could go anywhere. So, to me, that's what makes it fun, exciting, and different every day.
