Victoria and Albert Museum Debuts Cherry on the Cake Limited-Edition Designer Prints
London's Victoria and Albert Museum Puts the Cherry on the Cake
The world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, the Victoria and Albert Museum is no doubt my favorite museum in London. It houses an extensive collection of ceramics, costumes, textiles, drawings, and photography — and I must admit I also cannot resist its gift shop. So I'm excited to hear that the museum is bringing even more art to its gift shop, with its third "Cherry on the Cake" collection of designer artwork.
The V&A has asked 12 artists to create brand new designs using paper as their medium. The collection includes traditional printmaking, paper engineering, typography, and paper-cut techniques. My favorites are Tom Martin's unique, signed, and numbered Exhibition in a Box ($34, left), featuring 20 mini prints. I also adore paper cut master and illustrator Rob Ryan's delicate laser cut I Can't Forget ($104, right) piece. And lucky for me, these limited-edition prints do ship internationally! Prices range from $20 to $700, so there's really something at every price point. Which one is your fave?
