Tufted Sofas For Sale

Shopping For: Tufted Sofas

Ever wonder how your sofa gets that lumpy, patterned look? It's called tufting, and occurs when an upholsterer threads through layers of fabric or leather, often in a pattern, and secures the ends of the thread with a knot or button. Everything from headboards to ottomans to sofas sport this upholstering technique. Even though the look may seem uniform, it can read as modern or romantic depending on the shape of the sofa itself. We've rounded up a number of sofas that showcase how versatile tufting is, and how it complements a number of styles.

One of our favorite tufted sofas is the Williams Sonoma Beverly Sofa ($3,200, second row from bottom, right) in a beautiful, chestnut-colored leather upholstery. The sofa's dramatic, sweeping arms and classic Chesterfield styling are nicely juxtaposed by its turned legs. The sofa is also available in other upholstery and color options.

Sitting directly to the left of the Beverly sofa is the much more modern looking Room and Board Clarke Sofa ($2,100). Paying homage to the classic styling of the 1930s, it features button-tufted back cushions and is made in VA.
