Trend Alert: Light and Airy Canopy Beds

As a kid, I always fantasized about having a canopy bed, and ever since I spotted the Creme Fresh Celeste Bed, I've discovered that there are plenty of canopy beds for grown-ups too. But these dreamy canopies aren't the imposing four-posters of old. The big trend is in light and airy canopy beds made from sleek metal, slender wood, and sculpted wrought iron for a look that's both romantic and modern.

These bed frames, like the Room & Board Architecture Queen Bed ($899) above, would look lovely draped in sheer fabrics or just left unadorned. Click on the photos below to see my favorite canopy beds.

i just bought a canopy bed that arrives on the 9th and i am so excited. i always wanted one and now i can sleep like a queen. my son, almost 2, will undoubtably hang from - jump on, and ultimatley get hurt from the bed BUT YIPPEE i got a nice bed. - pray my baby doesnt end up with stiches!! KIDDING :)

AHHH I WANT ONE SOOO BAD! I tried to make a mock-canopy bed with cables and airy material that hung from my ceiling...but it just didn't have the same effect as the real thing. One day I will own one of these!!

I have always wanted one but some how I just don't think I will every get one. You have to have a large bedroom to pull it off, otherwise I would feel closed in.

I'm not a big fan of canopy beds. I think I'd end up kicking the rail in the night and hurting myself.

I have an antique four post bed with a mambasa net canopy above it which is great because you can play around with it and change the shape, it's very airy but easy to take down when I am tired of it and ready for a new look.

i have my eye on one from IKEA for about $400 in two shades of wood. this is such a beautiful look.

I always wanted a canopy bed when I was a little girl! I never got it, but I'm glad they make ones for grown ups too! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I can remember wanting a canopy bed ever since I saw "Adventures in Baby Sitting"... at the begining of the movie she stands on the bed and uses the canopy rail thing as her mic. I just loved that. LOL Now as an adult I'm glad that they have updated the style. It's not the style that I'm going in my bedroom right now, but they still look nice!
