As we all well know, Thanksgiving is a time when we’re to give thanks for all that we have in our life (crazy Aunt Marge and all). People tend to go one of two routes for their Thanksgiving feast. First, the family Thanksgiving. Here your invite list is pretty simple. We recommend checking in with your family members right at the beginning of the month to see who is really coming. Stepsiblings? Cousins? Girlfriends? Boyfriends?
The second route is what we like to call the Chosen Family Thanksgiving. Many choose to wait for December to go home for the holidays and spend Thanksgiving with the family they have made from their friends in their new cities. For this route, send out a little feeler email at the beginning of the month to find out who is going to be in town. Many groups of friends have their own little Thanksgiving traditions that they have been doing for years, but if this is your first year doing Chosen Family Thanksgiving, be ready and open for friends of friends too. People tend to be especially warm and inviting this time of year.
