The federal government wants to give you a little incentive to go green.
Until Dec. 31, you can save up to $500 in consumer tax credits when you buy energy-saving products such as high-efficiency furnaces, water heaters, windows, and insulation.

Even after the end of the year, you can get reimbursed for up to $2,000 for solar upgrades. Products include solar water heaters and photovoltaic roof panels, and this incentive is good through Dec. 31, 2008.
For a complete breakdown of all of the tax incentives, just head over to the Energy Star site.

I think this is a great idea!!!
People put alot of hard work into going green, good to see it recognized in tax breaks!
1I don't think this applies to me since I rent...even thgouh every appliance we have is green!
2I should tell my landlord, Mabey I can get some new windows have it taken off the rent and she'll get the tax breaks. Oh I think I'll call her.
3This is some great info. If you rent your apartment like I do, there are lots of other things you can do to make your utility bill cheaper. You can install those curly-cue florescent lightbulbs, put caulk around your windows, hang heavy curtains to close at night, etc. Its kind of like getting a tax cut. Read more here...
