Tablescape Inspired by Napa For HomeGoods Giveaway
A Napa-Inspired Al Fresco Tablescape
Over the next few days, LilSugar and I are sharing a few thematic tablescapes we've created (check out LilSugar's first table here). What's inspired them? The holiday season is the most obvious influence — I wanted to create some fun, unusual alternatives to the usual holiday fare. However, I was also inspired by the Novogratz tables, as well as our $1,000 giveaway with HomeGoods, which is launching next Tuesday, Nov. 23.
I challenged myself to create this tablescape with pieces on hand — and that included the seasonal centerpiece. For this arrangement, I imagined a relaxed, wine country early Thanksgiving dinner enjoyed on the porch. Since the weather is usually so mild at this time of the year in wine country, it would be a shame not to enjoy the fresh air. For a full table tour, and to find out how I got this look, read more.
One element I used that I really love is the layered sheepskins on the teak chairs. They add softness and warmth to the wood — a must for late afternoon feasts that extend into the evening. For the tablecloth, I actually used a thick, cotton DwellStudio For Target shower curtain. I rehemmed the grommeted end, and now it works perfectly for oblong tables. Plus, I love the pattern — it works so well with the subdued stoneware plates.
For the centerpiece, I pruned branches from a Chardonnay grape vine, the fig tree, and the jasmine bush, and then supplemented the arrangement with succulents. To make the bouquet tall enough for the woven wooden basket, I propped a vase on a bowl inside the basket.
Since I decorated with figs, I thought that YumSugar's fig custard tart would be a nice match for the meal, and I've got my eye on the turkey roulade as well.
Want to see where I sourced all of the elements, and what went into this tablescape? All of the details are included in the photos below. Take a look!
