Small Studio Decorating Ideas

Making the Most of a 300-Square-Foot Studio

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member Willowleaf from the Lovely Little Vignettes group:

It’s the consequence of having to live in NYC post undergraduate, being an unpaid intern, and sacrificing the amount of space (settling for a kitchen that can be taken away on wheels) for the actual quality of space. (I had to have the tiny apartment with a nice bathroom — I mean it’s a Jacuzzi, how could I not?) But what I’ve been left with is a kind of a fun challenge to give a little amount of space a lot of life and personality. I’ve always been one for the tiny details rather than the larger picture.

I thought a neutral palette, lots of white, and curtains hung to the ceiling would help maximize the square footage I do have to work with. Also, since I splurged on a few basic items that will hopefully take me into the next decade (Jonathan Adler lamps and upholstered chaise chair), most of my other décor is homemade. (My own art work that is often interpretations of pricier gallery pieces like ones from my favorite artist Hunt Slonem.) A tiny space can definitely be as rich as a larger one.
