CS: How do you envision the desk space being used?
SF: When designing a desk space I never envision a laptop – I usually go to a more romantic place, a light breeze blowing through the drapes as someone sits down to write a letter to a friend overseas. I heard about an article the other day about how people today are so into “escaping” our present, with our texts and emails, but they actually related it back to times when people would just get lost in their letter writing and sometimes have full relationships via letters. It’s definitely an interesting thought – but I still feel a good old-fashioned letter is irreplaceable. Even if the space is never used for that – it still gives off that romantic, timeless vibe.
CS: What color did you use in the living room?
SF: This is actually a funny story, the contractor brought in four shades of gray and put them up on the wall, but the senior designer on the project, Steven Didrick, didn’t like any of them… so he went out and bought 16 additional colors before finding the right one! We ended up on Benjamin Moore’s Sea Pearl shade.
