For our dessert table, we carried over our wooden charger plates, slate gray utility blanket/table linens, pillar candles, and birch bark and picked up our Thanksgiving theme and color scheme with the white pumpkin, gray acorn, and "gobble-gobble" cookies that we made with our custom cookie maker. (Phineas, my brand new Golden Doodle puppy, chills on a chair for added charm.) To lend height to our cookie display, we paired our homemade cookies with some salted caramel, spice, and apple-cinnamon macaroons from a specialty bakery. Instead of serving a more traditional apple or pecan pie, we made cupcake pies by baking cupcakes, placing them in small silver containers to replicate the look of a pie plate, adding brown and orange candies, decorating them with piping and then displaying them on a flipped-over clear plexi box.
TIP: If you don't have time to make a pie, making cupcake pies is an easy way to serve one without actually having to bake.
