Room Therapy: A Full-Length Mirror That Won't Break the Bank?

Room Therapy: A Full-Length Mirror That Won't Break the Bank?

13

Dear Casa,

Hi! I'm in the market for a full-length mirror for the master bedroom in our new house and figured that you and your readers might have some ideas. (I want something that won't break the bank but also something that doesn't look like it's for a college dorm.)

Thanks!
Zulkey

Hi Zulkey,

I wasn't sure what you had in mind, in terms of color or style, so I decided to round up a bunch of mirrors to play it safe.

To see the mirrors, and to leave a suggestion of your own, read more.

I'll start with this one, which has an extremely low price tag. This wooden standing mirror ($49.99, usually $129.99) from JCPenney has a wood frame and a crisp, white finish. It would be a great choice for a contemporary bedroom.

The Hemnes full-length mirror ($99.99) from Ikea looks similar to some of its more pricey counterparts. It's made from solid pine and comes in dark brown, antique stain, or white finishes.

I also recommend that you check eBay for mirrors. From my search, it seemed as if there was a wide range of nice full-length mirrors at very reasonable prices, even after you figured in shipping. There are some other mirrors below, though they do range in price between $100 and $400 dollars. Take a look and see if there's anything you like that fits your budget.

If you have any suggestions, leave them below!

Be careful to secure them properly! A guy I know tripped and fell into one of these, and nearly bled to death. (He's OK now, but he looked pretty pale for a while.) I have a large mirrored closet door, 8'x8', that makes my tiny room look much bigger. I'm a big fan of mirrors in small hallways. They make any place feel bigger, especially when you can catch a reflection of a larger room or the outdoors.

I'd be scared to buy from ebay because of the shipping. I'm actually in the same situation, and I need a nice mirror. I think I'm gonna go with the Ikea mirror because it was actually a decent width. But then again, target had an O.K. one.

I love ones that have stands, like the JC Penney one. I REALLY want one of the floor-length mirrors that open to reveal jewelry storage inside.

I LOVE the "Vanette Mirror $429.95 – Ballard Designs" one on the end! i wonder about buying an antique grate/fencing/gate and putting a flat panel mirror behind it and attaching it to the wall?! i think that would be so beautiful! sort of like a stained glass look in a way with sections of mirror peeping through.

Weirdly, I was reading Zulkey's website for the first time in months last night. Coincidence? Or FATE?

Woo! thank you so much. Just looking at this it seems like the Ikea Hemnes and Ashton from CB2 are most like our style and seem reasonable. I appreciate it!

Seven7, that one's from West Elm. AimeeB, your mirror sounds amazing. You're so lucky to have a tool-savvy boyfriend!

Great finds. Luckily my boyfriend made me this amazing mirror, encased in wood with a pattern on the side he made with embedded nails. I love it.
