Last year, my husband and I had a fairly spacious, single-use bedroom. Then, when baby made three, we had to make a decision about how to divide the space in our two-bedroom bungalow. Would we move the baby into the second bedroom right away, or try to reserve that room as a guest room and study for as long as possible? Well, our guests won out, and our little one's crib has been in our room since he was born. It's actually worked out quite well (no 2 a.m. walks across the house to grab a crying babe for us), but eventually our guests will have to figure out other sleeping arrangements, or deal with an air mattress on the living room floor.
Plenty of families compromise when it comes to their sleeping quarters. Whether it's a crib by the bed or a home office in a corner, our bedrooms aren't strictly for bedding down anymore.
