Design by Jeff Andrews Design
CasaSugar: What element of Dexter inspired your design the most?
Jeff Andrews: The character. The design of this space is representative of Dexter’s secret life, the place which defines him and his true inner self; a refuge for the “dark passenger,” where Dexter would go if he didn’t have to hide.
CS: How did you translate your inspiration into the interiors?
JA: This dark and moody live/work space is filled with furniture and objects that reflect the artistic, sophisticated, and intellectual side of Dexter. The gray/green color palette is inspired by the clothes Dexter wears when he acts on his serial killer instincts. The materials used throughout are textural and organic with industrial touches. The fragmented and broken theme can be seen throughout, from the design of the custom hide rug to the petrified wood wall installation. The aesthetic of the space reflects Dexter’s masculine and unconventional side, but the design of this functioning loft revolves around the needs of just one person, giving it an overwhelming sense of loneliness.
