If you're in Chicago, IL, for Earth Day, you'd be well served to spend the day at the Museum of Science and Industry touring the 2011 Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit. Located on the museum's grounds, the fully-functioning, three-story modular home has been redesigned with help from Chicago interior furnishing store Scout and tech partner Gizmodo.
If you want a sneak peek of the house, or, like me, unfortunately too far away to visit in person, I've got some great photos to share with you. Take a look at how the 2011 Smart Home uses unique pieces reused and repurposed in remarkable ways, including laboratory cabinets from the University of Chicago and Knoll chairs reupholstered in a cobalt blue fabric made from recycled car tires.
Live in Chicago? You can visit the 2011 Smart Home: Green + Wired in person starting tomorrow.
