Cool Idea: La Toilette in Disguise

3

British designer Cath Kidston opens up her colorful London home in Lonny magazine's latest issue, giving us a feeling for why she's named the "Queen of Florals." But the talented designer that she is, she knows her boundaries and when to say no to powerful patterns.

In an effort to turn her bathroom into a retreat, she doused the walls in serene white paint. Then, she went the extra mile to disguise the unseemly facilities that give the lavatory its name. She started by hiding the sink in a cupboard with doors that can be shut when not in use. Then, she cleverly designed a slipper-style chair around the toilet to camouflage it. All that's left is a gorgeous roll-top tub and a luxurious towel warmer . . . and who ever would complain about those?
