Open House: What Projects Are You Working On?

Last weekend, I found this very cool Danish dining chair at a flea market for the low, low price of $2.50 (yes, it was that cheap!). Right now, I'm in the middle of taking all of the staples out of the chair's ugly, tweedy beige upholstery and reupholstering it in something more updated.

I love hearing what everyone's doing! I'm painting little stools for all my friends' kids for Christmas, trying to finish knitting a scarf, and I'm making refrigerator magnets out of those glass marbles with flat bottoms. I also want to make that ribbon wreath that was on here a few days ago, but gold and white for Christmas.

I'm going to convert one of my dressers into a CD/DVD storage center. It'll be much more organized since my CDs/DVDs are all over the place in my room.

I need to finish up my throw pillows for my couch. I got some cute material at Crate & Barrel outlet over the summer & have been procrastinating on it ;)

That chair matches my dining room set! We recovered our a few times with various fabrics. The back of the chair is a pain to recover!

Casa, SCORE! What a superb deal! what type of fabric are you using for your lovely chair? We have a plumber coming tomorrow to give us an estimate on converting our stove and dryer to gas (currently propane, ugh.) I was just looking at one of my fav chairs -- a hand-me-down from an aunt -- that I'd really like to reupholster. I have to find fabric, which is not easy considering all the local fabric shops closed up! Other than that my next door neighbor and I are working on creating a "Haunted Forest" in my driveway for Halloween, so we'll be drawing up plans for that this weekend.

we're in the process of packing and moving so no big projects really but I am making sleep masks for all the women on my christmas list. They're lavender filled and fun!

I'm currently working on a Thanksgiving cross stitch pattern for our wall. It's a pretty simple pattern so it shouldn't take any time at all. My big project is making roman shades for the 6 windows across the front of the house. I just haven't found any fabric that I love.

I want to sand and stain my fireplace mantle. When we bought the house a few months ago it is covered in black soot (sp?) from the previous owners having a fire that was too big and the stain is bubbled so i have been wanting to do this and now that it is cold enought to use the fireplace i want to get it done.

Oh goodness! I have so many projects that I have started: I am refinishing a pedestal table that needs a new leaf, I have chairs that I need to strip and paint, I just took apart an old ottoman that needs new upholstery which I haven't bought yet. I started painting two canvases that need finishing, a half-knitted scarf, I have made the stuffed birds for this mobile http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/ I have a problem with finishing the things I start. I will begin a project and will eventually finish, it just takes a while.

I found an adorable little cabinet on the street this summer, and I've been meaning to strip it, stain it, and possible change out the hardware... until then, it's living in the garage...

I am going to try to get around to painting my bathroom this weekend. I bought benjamin moore jalapeno pepper a few weeks ago and am anxious to get it done. I am also having an electrician come out this weekend to install an outlet so I can finally hide my power chord on my wall mounted tv. If I have time, I will also try to get some work done on my quilting project that is taking forever...

I finished my fall wreath on Wednesday. I'm pretty pleased with it this year. I'm also working on curtain for the bay window in my kitchen and trying to figure out what to do with my guest room before my parents visit for Thanksgiving. My main project is a pair of hairpins for my friend to wear at her wedding...this weekend. They are coming along beautifully (ivory and silver beads, feathers, a very believable ivory silk plumeria....divine!)but are stressing me out. I think they're great but I need HER to like them. She's the bride for crying out loud...

Hmmm.. I have a couple of old chairs in storage that I was thinking in reupholstering. Maybe I'll use silk scarves like the thread that was posted earlier this week. Not sure, I'll see what I can come up with this weekend.
