Nice and New: Black-and-White Ikea Billy Bookcase

Chances are, you or someone you know has owned an Ikea Billy Bookcase ($59.99 to $79.00) at one time or another. The shelves are perfectly basic, big, and sturdy, and, therefore, wildly popular with bargain-seekers everywhere.

Now, in addition to black, silver, white, and various wood stains, you can get the Billy Bookcase in a black-and-white floral pattern for a mere $59.99. I think it's very adorable and also quite unique. What do you think?

i agree with cassedy04, too, but i think that once it's got the books on it, it won't look AS busy. ...or possibly it could look busier with all the different book spines. great way to jazz up a definitely classic, though. but definitely agree with cassedy04 about the 'unique'/not really so unique thing. I, too, love ikea, but i don't buy it if i want something to differentiate my decor from others!

Yeah, the pattern may be busy, but if it's busting full of books, half the pattern will be covered up anyway. I like it.

I like it, but it's a bit too much. I would prefer just the back patterned with solid black or white shelves.

I love these bookshelves, and I love prints, but I feel like this combination would give me a headache. I want to see my books when I look on she shelves! Maybe that black and white pattern for wall-paper behind the booksheves!

Seems I"m not the only one "glued" to my new IKEA catalog???... This new Billy case definitely caught my eye. But I agree with Memorie... having the pattern all over is a bit much.....

It's cute for college..... I had a gray one ~~ but it's been donated to the SA....since it really doesn't fit in with "adult" decor =)

I should clarify -- the bookcase that Domino customized was a solid white one. I agree this pattern is a bit too busy.

It's cute, but I'd probably go for a solid colored one myself. I think it would be great for a high school or college student, though.

I would like this in a slightly different way, maybe just the pattern on the back etc. Overall its too much even for a black and white lover such as myself.
