CasaSugar: How did you decide on the furniture designs for this apartment?
David Khouri: KGB always strives to design on both the macro and micro level when considering a project. So the space and the furniture within it were pretty much designed concurrently: creating appropriate backdrops for the pieces but also using the furniture to strengthen the architecture and knit the space and objects within it into a cohesive whole.
CS: Were any of the designs bespoke pieces?
DK: Yes, the sapphire blue (Liston) sofa was designed specifically with the apartment in mind but was then added to the KGB line. The pair of fumed oak and bronze cabinets were also created to house specific items for the client, but then became the Saxton Cabinets, re-imagined in Japanese Sen wood paired with 22 karat gold hardware, became part of the KGB line.
