Nailhead refers to a decorative embellishment that has the look of decorative metal tacks. The trim is often found on the sides or edges of furniture upholstered in fabric or leather, including sofas, armchairs, and ottomans.

Nailhead trim is often found in more upscale, stuffy styles, though it can also be used in edgier designs. The look is achieved by hammering individual tacks into furniture or using a strip of trim with many tacks strung together.

We used to have a chair like that! Oh how I miss that chair. I used to rub my fingers on the nail heads. I know, I'm weird but I was 8.

love it- we have a great chair and ottoman from Restoration Hardware that has held up so nicely for over 7 years- even after two kids all over it.
