PS: Your beach home feels sophisticated yet livable, which is exactly how you want a vacation home to feel! What are some tips for nailing that balance?
CL: I really wanted to create a laid-back but designed space — I imagined "beach loft." I also wanted a space that could be lived in: sandy kids, wet dogs, and sticky fingers. That is why I chose a print for the sofa. You have no idea what you can hide with a print. It's a riff on the traditional "cottage" vibe. It references florals and wood, but in a modern way. I also picked up on subtle blues that are used in traditional "beach decor," but not in an obvious way. Also, it helps that most of the furniture is from DwellStudio, so it was easy for me to get exactly the look I wanted. I had been designing the space long before I got the house.
