CS: Do you have any tips for maintaining a chic but dog-friendly home?
LB: I have no shame in admitting that every dog toy we buy must go well with the colors and decor of the house, down to the colors of the knot rope bones we have. And all of her toys coordinate with each other (now that I've just written that, I do feel a little crazy). For instance, she has a ball, bone, and frisbee, all made of the same material and in a fabulous bright orange color, which is another way to add color to the house. I'm serious. That stuff it always laying around, so why not make it part of the decor! Keeping the toys mostly one color keeps the house looking less cluttered. A dog bed is very much a part of a home's decor, so make sure to choose a pattern and color that complements the style of the room it's in. We bought a modern, simple gray chevron pattern dog bed on Etsy from Martha & Ash and throw all of her toys into a chic basket I got at World Market. The basket goes with the decor of the house, so it doesn't stand out. Never use color or plastic tubs for dog toy storage, and don't put it by the fireplace. I see so many people do that!
