Midday Muse: Matchy Matchy

Sometimes it is possible to have too much of a good thing, but in this case, I feel like the matching isn't over the top. Granted, making the walls and the lampshade twinsies isn't everyone's bag, but I think that in this case, it creates a unified, calming atmosphere — perfect for this room. What about you? Are you a matcher?

I like it. Would love to see a larger room photo to really judge but given the colors and the placement of the lamp to chair, the effect really serves to minimize the disruptiveness of a typical shade, allowing the cream doors to function as a clean space. The lampshade also provides a smooth visual transition to the more busy wall of books and objets. All of which frames the chair nicely. This is actually a very subtle piece of work in terms of visual composition. Even the vase and white book covers function to draw your eye yet harmonize with the doors. Well done. And this isn't even my decorating style.

This is way too matchy-matchy for me...I like to match to a certain point (same color family, complimenting prints), but the lamp matching the wallpaper is over-the-top. For me, anyway.

Ok, again I get cut off from the add above. Anyway, what I said was if any of you have seen the movie, 'GARDEN STATE', with Zach Braff, one scene will come to mind. This 'Midday Muse' instantly reminded me of that. I'd love to see how many of you know what I'm talking about....it's funny!
