After trying to unload his Pacific Heights neighborhood mansion for several years, Metallica's lead guitarist Kirk Hammett has finally found a buyer for the 110-year-old brick mansion.
While Hammett may have begun to think finding a buyer may be the day that never comes, the house is currently listed as sale pending, though at a much reduced price. The four-story, 9,057-square-foot Georgian mansion was first listed at $12.5 million, but was last listed at just over $9 million, though final sale price is unknown.

Wow, that place is incredible. I love the exterior, the ceiling medallions, and the party room. Though it's funny to imagine Kirk walking around Pac Heights.
1nice to see Metallica represented on Sugar! Kirk is a total chill, laid back dude, I could see him strolling Pac Heights!
2I wonder why it took so long to sell it. It is beautiful.
3Maybe it was priced too high at $12M and still too hight at $9M. Maybe it didn't sell because the house needs some work. I bet he didn't get more than $8M for it. The buyer had the advantage since the things has been on the market for a very long time.
4OK. After looking at the slideshow, I see the problems and why this thing took so long to sale.
Take a look at the "master" bathroom!! It's WAY too small and the other bathroom shown is also small and they are both outdated. The kitchen is also outdated (except for the stove). Those cabinets are ugly and so is that small island. Plus, look at all the woodwork throughout the house. Looks like all of it needs to be refinished.
Now I see why nobody wanted to pay $12M!! If the buyer paid more than $8M, I would be surprised. That's about what it's worth. It will take a million to get the place up to date. I would have to tear out that master bath pronto and build a newer, bigger one from scratch.
