It was with a large cheer that we noticed a slew of stylish women wearing their (comfortable) sneakers out and about in place of ankle booties and pumps. Fashion editor Laurel Pantin used a bright red pair of Nikes to finish off an outfit that would work just as well with a more formal shoe. A chunky turtleneck worn under a double-breasted navy coat felt East Coast collegiate, while cropped leather trousers were a surefire editor staple. Her bold accessory choices didn't stop at the cherry kicks, either. She finished things off with a yellow Reece Hudson clutch and smoky lilac shades. Shop the outfit we put together here.
A post-Thanksgiving grocery store run was the perfect time for Reese Witherspoon to break out some seasonal green plaid. While it wasn't quite coat weather in Los Angeles, she fought the California chill by layering a black crewneck sweater over her button-up. The bright plaid was her only spot of color, with the rest of her look finished off by dark denim Hudson skinny jeans, a perforated black tote, and ankle boots with a chic zipper. Polished enough for the office but still festive-feeling for holiday drinks, this look is a smart one to keep in your back pocket as the calendar starts to fill up. Shop similar picks right here.
We'd happily serve as the third wheel in a weekend of vintage shopping with husband-and-wife team Scott Jarrell and Kristan Cunningham — especially if it meant riding along in their 1963 Chevy truck! The couple's LA-based design firm and newly opened interiors store, Hammer and Spear, demonstrates their knack for nailing effortlessly cool interiors.
Whether you're exploring their brick-and-mortar store or trolling the ecommerce site, you're bound to end up with something in your cart. Since they're pros at sniffing out the best vintage finds and artisanal treasures, we decided to find out which items are topping their gift and wish lists. Take a look at the things they're dying to get and give this holiday season!
What's on Their Wish List:
Kristan: I'm not super girlie, in the sense that I don't have a ton of bags, and the ones I do have I keep for years. There's absolutely nothing that this Clare Vivier clutch ($210) won't go with — from jeans and a white t-shirt to a little black dress, so it makes for a great staple. And it can hold so much!
Scott: The whole Triumph & Disaster line of products are must haves, but the Stash Box ($150) packages them all nice and tidy, with beautiful imagery — it even comes with a shaving brush!
Scott: When a product is well-designed, made with quality materials, and expertly crafted, there’s no need for a bunch of bells and whistles. Mifland’s bags are simple and timeless, and the two-tone on this one ($415) is a simple detail that provides tons of impact. These guys nailed it.
Kristan: Vanja Bazdulj is a crazy talented London-based designer, making handcrafted tableware out of slab-built clay. Her shapes are simple and raw, and the drawings are childlike, but the pieces are remarkably sophisticated. I have a feeling that coffee would taste better out of one of her mugs ($41).

The piece: Alex and Ani Metallic Daze Bangle Set
The price: $358
Why we want it: They say it's better to give than to receive, but we don't think holiday shopping is that cut-and-dry. We had to do some soul searching when we came across this sleek set of studded, spiked, sparkly silver bracelets. From Alex and Ani, a jewelry brand known for its expandable bangles, these accessories make the perfect present — they fit any wrist! Plus, you can wear them all together to make a serious statement or one at a time for a more delicate approach to holiday styling. Everyone on your list will love them. Our recommendation? Buy an extra set for yourself so you don't miss out on the fun. Or hey, if you've got to, buy one, keep a bangle for yourself, and share the rest with your five favorite ladies. What they don't know won't hurt 'em.
Beg your mom to borrow her turtleneck — they're back, according to Kim Kardashian (which, let's be honest, really means according to Kanye West). She was out and about in New York last night in a chic all-black look that had your usual suspects: skinny jeans, pumps, and a long, double-breasted coat. But instead of a cashmere v-neck or filmy tee, Kim had a thin turtleneck under it all. If you don't already count all these pieces in your closet, we've shopped them out here for your styling convenience
We're always a sucker for shiny things, including extrasparkly party purses during the holiday season! Sure, there are endless options on the market, but why not create something that's one-of-a-kind? Create the perfect clutch in just two steps! We promise, you (and your clutch) are sure to be the hit of the party.
As the design guru for some of Hollywood's hippest (ahem: have you seen Rachel Bilson's home?!), designer, store owner, and author Kishani Perera knows what's up. With her soulful styling and treasure-hunt approach to shopping, we just had to find out which items were topping her gift list. Take a look at the things she's dying to get and give this holiday season!
What's on Her Wish List:
These dreamy, marbleized plates ($8-$13, originally $16-$24) have me swooning! I would love to unwrap these beauties on Christmas morning!
These gorgeous 18k gold tea cups ($125 each) would make an afternoon ritual that much more special! Anyone want to send a pair my way for the holidays?!
My pups are my babies, so I'd be thrilled to get any one of these adorable outfits or accessories for my little ones! I’m especially smitten with the pea coats ($88) — so stylish!
I’m completely mesmerized by this set of rose gold flatwarefrom West Elm! Super chic. Keep reading to see what she's planning on giving this year!
Gwen Stefani's never been one to shy away from a fashion challenge, and this look is no different. She streamlined the getting-dressed process by doing the adult version of a onesie, picking a denim jumpsuit from Hatch (available to shop here) that she covered up with a long black Smythe tuxedo jacket. For shoes, she picked black ankle boots from AllSaints with a menswear-inspired tassel. It was her other accessories that pushed the envelope more — she opted for blue-lensed sunglasses and a tartan chain-strap bag from Vivienne Westwood. It's a lot of look to pull off together, but Gwen makes for a mighty good inspiration. Shop it all here.
