I'm not a gun person, which is precisely why I like this mocking Table Gun Lamp by Philippe Starck for Flos ($1,748). It's also quite luxurious, made from die-cast aluminum with a gold-plated finish.

I love theese lamps. It's a true art concept, so hard to find some meanings in usual home design objects. This is not a lamp, is a modern art piece. So kitch, but so true, like our occidental life, with gold and diamonds, but without meanings. With people always looking good, but with something less inside. That's the world, a big shiny golden gun, with no justice and no meaning. The only things that I dont lile so much are the crosses inside the lamp, too obvious, and the price :)

Quote Philippe Starck's intention with the Gun Lamp from Flos was to create objects which remind us that our state of well being is the result of somebody else dying. Its a very stylish item i want one now.

I really love this lamp but not for the reasons it would seem. It's more of a political statement piece about gun control.

One word: NO . I normally like philip stark's look but this for me is a no-no. Guns are not toys, nor decoration, they are waepons to be used when and when extremely needed.

I actually like this lamp. I have seen something similar at Urban Outfitters and it would go quite well with their home furnishing "style".

Well I have respect for someone who turns a gun in to something that can be a conversation piece as opposed to using it to get whatever it is he/she wants and vice versa. I agree with tralala.

What I believe Philip Starck could have been trying to do here was make a different purpose for something that is generally used as violence. Light is generally an archetype for something good or even heavenly. There is an irony, and below some words are reading "_____ is a hot gun." Curious to read the whole message on the lampstand, but all in all, this look is over, adhocing as a metaphor is over. It could be nice for a child to grow up thinking that's the only thing a gun is for, to hold light. Unfortunately, it won't be in our lifetime. Not into this at all.
