Love It or Hate It? Mismatched Nightstands

Aside from its dissimilar nightstands, this romantic bedroom is very symmetrical. In general, I prefer rooms to be slightly unbalanced — it gives a feeling of spontaneity and a less formal attitude. But, seeing how uniform this bed is otherwise, a part of me feels like it just looks off.Source

Like a lot of the other girls, I don't mind the mismatched nightstands, but can't stand the height difference!!

It's not the nightstands I hate, it's that hideous wallpaper. Mismatched can look good, they just have to be the right match of mismatch.

i agree with emmacg- you could have non matching stands but i think they should be the same height. but.... in this picture it's not really the nightstand's to where my eye is drawn! the horrendous factor of the wallpaper and headboard matching against the clashing of the linens if frightening! i do like the bedside lamps however :)

I agree with EmmaCG. It must be the height thing that makes it look off. If it's done right - compatible stands are paired - you can really make this look

I don't think the problem is that the nightstands don't match; I think it's that they aren't the same height, so it feels lopsided. I'm not a matchy-matchy girl myself, but this is mismatched done wrong.

I remember my parents having mismatched nightstands, but that was because we we're poor.

I feel the opposite, I love it. In fact in our master bedroom we have rocked the miss matched stands for years!

Nope, I could absolutely never do this. Symmetry is just something I need. Oh, and they have to be the same distance away from the bed. This picture irritates me.
