Love It or Hate It? Kim Buck Hollowware Bowl

I'm intrigued by the whimsical novelty of this Hollowware Bowl, which I spotted on Design Crack. Echoing the design of a Mylar balloon, this inflatable bowl could hold fruit, but it's more likely to serve as conversation piece. I like the playfulness of it, but I'm having trouble shaking my perception of Mylar as tacky. What do you think?

Playful and creative. This is an example of design leaning more towards art. Not everyone wants Pottery Barn or whatever. Oh and for those who look down on packing materials, I love making things out of packing materials. Frank Gehry's corrugated cardboard chair is an awesome example.

Anyone ever heard of Jeff Koons? He is a very well-known artist and she totally stole this idea from him. Some of his artwork are these metallic baloon animals. They dont hold any functionality...but the concept of the metallic balloon is his. check it out...www.jeffkoons.com

I could easily go to a party store... buy a ballon... have it half filled... come home, rest some apples in it, and call it artistic design. WOW! Imagine that.

Why don't you just grab something out of a dumpster, throw a couple apples on it and call it "design." Same effect.

it look like a silver happy birthday mylar balloon to me. i too was wondering about the fruit bruising. as much as i lover silver/grey it is a no for me.
