Love It or Hate It? Flatscreen and Bookshelf

I can see the logic in mounting a flatscreen next to a book shelf, especially, if you're storing media as well. However, I tend to think of books as special objects that should be housed away from tech items. What's your take?

I like it - not so much "love"... being a total techno-sexual, I wonder if the depth of the housed area for the tv allows for enough breathability for the unit when it heats up during use...

I love it, I too love books and tech, the room looks like a place I would go to relax. Maybe with a good book, maybe to watch some TV.

Totally stoopid idea, the heat generated from the rear of the TV could start a bloody fire with all that nonsense built around it. I hope they have 911 on speed dial. Stoopid Yanks.

For those of us who live in size challenged apartments this is a great solution. You could always have a fabulous slide show of your favorite art du jour or family pics. You don't have to keep it on the real house skanks of where ever.

I like how the furniture isn't facing the tv also, sometimes i like to have the tv while i do other things like cleaning or projects...

I like it! it doesn't bother me that the tech is combined with literature! i love both!

I am a fan of floor to ceiling bookshelves, but I'd probably try to keep my tv seperate. However, I don't mind the layout in the picture.

I don't mind it. It works well if you have a small space that you live in. You have everything you love right in front of you. When the tubes turned off, i probably wouldn't even notice it - it would just blend.

I don't have a problem with having a tv in that room, but I don't like it on the bookshelf... It would be much better if there were just books...

It looks like someone's den, so they probably, like many Americans have to have a tv in every room, but have the rest of the media in an actual media room made for movies and games. This just looks like a comfy place to catch your favorite episode.

I dont like how the TV is built into it (or so it seems with that wierd thick frame around it). But I Do like a bookshelf to be around the TV (my besta enon unit from Ikea)

Well, the way these shelves are used is insensible. Shouldn't the shelves SURROUNDING the T.V. be used for a entertainment equipment (DVD player, DVD's, surround sound equipment, game systems, etc)? This way, it's more like a built-in entertainment center? Why are books stored in those shelves?? If the shelves were used to store entertainment equipment and media, it would make more sense (and be more functional).

I guess I'm alone in that I actually dig it! I think it would be quite improved if the trim weren't a solid paint color, but instead was a nice rich wood grain.

I voted "hate it" but I don't, it's just not my cup of tea. It seems in the photo that it's in an area with ALL books which doesn't work for me. If you're going to have a library like that, why pollute it with a TV?
