In this powder room in the portfolio of New York-based interior designer Amanda Nisbet, a chalkboard scribbled with the words "You look marvelous" is hung in place of a mirror above the sink. While this tongue-in-cheek idea certainly photographs well, I think as a guest, after nibbling on some pesto caprese skewers and excusing myself to freshen up, I'd be pretty peeved to find no mirror in the powder room. If the chalkboard had a mirrored frame, or vice-versa, that might pass in my book. What do you think?

I love the idea! The no mirror in the bathroom could be remedied by placing s tiny mirror, say above the hand towel holder just big enough to view one feature, so guests could check their teeth. But then at least you wouldn't loose the overall unexpected look this design provides.
1i think the message is totally cute, i like it... and it would be funny to change it to "GAH! go back to bed!" or "you look horrendous" when your roommates are going to wake up hungover
2I love the idea, but I think I'd get irritated over time by the no mirror situation. There are ways to remedy that, of course.
3it looks cute, but there is no way I could do without my bathroom mirror
4It's clever, but not practical. I don't care what's written on that chalkboard--no one looks marvelous with food stuck in their teeth.
5i can't stand if there's not a mirror over the sink
6Did you all notice the mirror in the top right hand corner of the wall? lol
I like the artistic affect that this lends itself too but I think it would feel odd not having a mirror to look in at the sink. If they kept a small hand held or standing mirror on the counter that would be neat. At least a little something to check the hair/teeth/lipstick in.
7a chalkboard in lieu of a mirror? in the bathroom? hell to the no.
8I agree with Amanda G. I think it's really cute but you can add a mirror elsewhere. Maybe behind the door depending on whether you are using that area for storage.
9it would be cute to have a chalkboard in a bathroom, but i would definitely have to have a mirror above my sink. i think it would be a cute to have a mirror inside a chalkboard though.
