I spotted this Cardboard Fireplace ($24) at Urban Outfitters and I kind of love it. For one, the bricks remind me of the cardboard bricks I used to play with when I was a kid. And two, I love a good faux fireplace — my "crackling fire" DVD plays on repeat in the Winter. But I do wish this fireplace had a prettier mantel, like a white one with ornate moldings. What do you think?

Too hokey for my taste.
1It would be great if you run a day care to give the kids some ambiance.
2would love loved this for my college dorm.
3then again, I used to decorate with empty alcohol bottles, so...
my cool older cousin had this in her dorm (along with a paper cutout xmas tree) when I was little and I thought it was the coolest thing. Maybe not for an adult home, but as a kitschy apartment decoration? I think it's adorable.
4Runningesq, dorm room was my thought exactly.
5I think having this would make me even sadder that I don't have a fireplace in my apartment.
6It brings back memories of Elementary School in the seventies lol.
7We had one of those every year for my grade school Christmas plays.
8So yeah. Super-stylish.
okay if it were cheaper i'd totally get one for my house. it's six of us college girls and we are really lamenting not having a fireplace.
9That would look great in a daycare but not in someone's home...I think anyway. It's just a safe display when you a lot of younger kids running around. Or maybe you could place it in your church for the kiddies when you decorate in their classrooms below the church.
10I think it's hilarious!
11I made one when I was 10 that my family lovingly displayed year after year. As with many good times, it all started with an empty refrigerator box. Mine used real logs but was still missing a proper mantle. Just threw it out year ago when cleaning the attic - I quit loving it and it looked worse for the years in storage. Maybe I will make one this year with my sons and daughter. allthingsgrow, it could cost less than $4 to make one yourself and it might be fun for the six of you.
