Did You Live on or Off Campus During College?

In college I experienced a variety of living situations, including on-campus dorms, an apartment in a foreign country, and roommate-filled homes and apartments. For me, dorm life was suffocating, so I got out of there as fast as I could! But I know people who stayed in the dorms all four years because they loved it. I'm glad I had a chance to sample everything, but it all helped me appreciate where I call home now. When you were attending college, where did you live?

On two off two as well, but within walking distance like most off campusers. Wouldn't have done it any other way. Now you have to stay on campus as a sophomore at my university, but when I went there you could move off then. And there are now also off campus school owned apartments which would be nice, but I'm glad we had houses.

Year 1 & 2: dorms (blech!)Year 3: on-campus apartment one semester, dorm in foreign country next semesterYear 4: 50 miles off campus with the bf. I had classes Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I would spend Wednesday night on a couch in my friends' apartment.

Oh, and I lived in an apartment while studying abroad, as well, but that was arranged through the school. I definitely preferred the apartment to a dorm, though, since I had a kitchen!

I picked the school I did partially because there is a huge "student neighborhood" that consists of houses, apartment buildings, etc. that are all owned by the university. So, I live in a dorm my freshman year, an apartment my sophomore year, and houses my junior and senior years, but all four years I was on campus! It was nice because I didn't have to worry about dealing with a landlord, each roommate's room and board was paid directly to the school (so no worries about it affecting me if someone didn't pay), and there were no worried about utilities, cable, internet, etc., since it was all included.

On campus all 4 years. I loved it! It was convenient and less expensive. The first two years, in the all girl dorm, which was such a blast. Last two were in apartment style dorms. I will say that my school had super nice big dorms, and amazing food. The apartments that I did look at that were close to campus were so trashy, and poorly managed and you had to deal with constant noise issues.

I lived on campus my first two years, then off last year and now, my final year. I love living off campus-the freedom is great, plus the responsibility helps you get ready for the real world!
