Similar to the culture of the great city of LA, our local designers describe the LA signature look as nothing short of a mashing of styles. In a city that seems ransacked by names and labels, in the interior design world a label is a major faux pas. Designers Richard Hallberg, Molly Luetkemeyer, Trip Haenisch, and William Hefner all agree that it’s more about unique elements and finding that perfect balance between over the top and intriguing.
Although Hollywood does influence design, these gurus warn against becoming a set designer for Mad Men when pulling together your home. Be creative, don't overthink it, and don't let any one piece stand out. The holy rule behind the mixology of LA design is integrity. You can throw a piece from Ikea next to a piece of contemporary art next to a 17th-century gilded console, and as long as they have the same level of integrity (and that doesn’t mean price tag), you can pull it off!
