CS: What are some eyesores that people usually avoid dealing with? What are some of your favorite resolutions for turning them into eye candy?
JL: A bad view is the most common eyesore that people find hard to camouflage. With flaws, I always try to go the other direction and see how to play them up as features, not blemishes. My friend's only window looks out onto the back of brick buildings. I hung a very large, ornate Rococo-inspired picture fame (empty without glass) on a velvet ribbon from the top down to the middle of the window and now it's a whimsical feature in her room.
On the extreme, my other friend's refrigerator is located in her foyer so instead of hiding it behind a curtain, I covered it with vintage milk bottle caps. Now, it's the quirky highlight everyone talks about.
